A Live Oak man was hospitalized with serious injuries Friday afternoon when the dump truck he was driving overturned while make a turn in Columbia County, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.

Randy David Norris, 48, was flown by helicopter to Shands at the University of Florida following the accident at 2:30 p.m. on Brown Road and U.S. 90, FHP reported in a media release.

Norris was driving south on Brown Road and attempted to make a left turn onto U.S. 90. While turning, the truck overturned onto the passenger side.

Norris' injuries were listed as serious, while a passenger, Glen Hobbs, 20, of Fayetteville, W.Va., was not injured.

Dollar General in Williston robbed

Williston police are asking for help from anyone with information about a robbery Friday at the Dollar General Store at 539 E. Noble Ave.

The incident occurred about 4:04 p.m. The suspect grabbed money out of an open cash register, police said.

Police said the suspect was white, 25 to 30 years old with brown hair. He wore dark shorts, a blue and black polo shirt and black sneakers.

Two men accused of armed robbery

Two men were arrested on armed robbery charges by Gainesville police Saturday morning after allegedly pulling a gun and demanding money from a man who had given them a ride, Lt. Rob Koehler said.

Charged were David Littles, 21, of 3819 NE 13th Terrace; and Donkevius Owens, 19, of 2114 NW 55th Blvd., Apt. 35.

The incident began at about 6 a.m. when a driver saw two men along Southwest 62nd Boulevard and gave them a ride to the 400 block of E. University Avenue, according to arrest reports.

As the men were getting out of the car, one pulled a gun on the driver and tried to rob him. The driver sped away and reported the crime.

Koehler said officer Christopher Kesting spotted Owens and Little, who matched the description given by the victim, walking in the area. The two were detained and Littles was identified by the victim, police said.

Koehler said Owens confessed to witnessing Littles pull a gun on the victim and try to rob him.

Both were charged with robbery with a firearm, while Littles was also charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, according to Alachua County jail records.
