Man Says Car Buyer Turns Carjacker During Test Drive
ROSEVILLE, Mich. -- A man said he was letting a presumed potential buyer test drive his Jaguar on Interstate 94 in Roseville when the man pulled a gun on him. The man, who asked to be called Gary, said he posted his red Jaguar on AutoTrader.com. Gary said he agreed to let a man who contacted him from the website and who he thought was interested in buying the car test drive it. "It's a chaotic situation because you're being confronted by a person with a weapon," Gary said. "He told me to toss the cellphone underneath the car. I did that and we proceeded down I-94." Gary said the man forced him out of his car before stealing it. He said he was left on the side of the road in shock, without a cellphone and about a half mile away from the nearest exit. Gary said the man told him he would spare his life if he obeyed and gave him the Jaguar. "He said, 'I don't want your jewelry, I don't want your wallet and I don't want your money'," Gary said. Roseville police said this is not the first time this type of crime has happened in Metro Detroit communities, and that they are investigating Gary's case to see if it is connected to others of its kind.
