The Dark Knight Rises | News Release 2011

Edward Thomas ‘Tom’ Hardy, actor thirty-three originally from London, is the only certainty so far, along with Anne Hathaway who will play instead of Selina Kyle / Catwoman, with regard to the news of the cast of The Dark Knight Rises, the third and final chapter Christopher Nolan’s film trilogy devoted to Batman.

After the well deserved praise from critics and audiences for his role in Inception (2010), Hardy was hired to play one of the most dangerous enemies of the Dark Knight, Bane.

Designed by the creative team consisting of Chuck Dixon, Doug Moench, and Graham Nolan, Bane (‘ruin’, ‘misfortune’) appeared for the first time in January 1993 (Vengeance of Bane # 1) and his was a nomen omen Whereas over narrative Knightfall (1993-1994) was able to implement a complex plan to physically and psychologically sfiancare Batman, carp identity, being able to face and then broke my back.

Bane (pictured right) has no name, no real identity. Born and raised in the tough prison in the fictional Republic of Santa Prisca (Caribbean) and the son of a revolutionary, can be developed while in prison, physical and intellectual abilities not common, climbing the hierarchy of inmates to the top. It is then that the leaders of the institution forced him to undergo treatment with the drug Venom, injecting it directly into the skull through the tubes in an experiment that threatens to kill him at the start but then gives him an awesome physical strength, thanks to Bane who escapes, and finally in Gotham City.

The only very different, so far, the film version of the character, the one proposed by Joel Schumacher in Batman & Robin bad (1997): here, Bane had a real identity, that of serial killer Antonio Diego (played by Michael Reid MacKay), which enhanced by the drug Venom, a brute became almost totally devoid of intelligence but of superhuman strength, Poison Ivy’s bodyguard in the movie starring Uma Thurman.

E ‘legitimate expectations, knowing the faithful and intelligent approach to the universe of Nolan’s Batman, that the version of the character in The Dark Knight Rises will be much more nuanced and mature. Confirmation on this, then, came precisely from Tom Hardy. As for the appearance of Bane certainly more evident, that of its natural grandeur, it seems that the British actor has assiduously devoted to the definition of their muscles, as indeed has already demonstrated the ability to make the protagonist in the film Bronson (2008). In recent days, in fact, an English fan managed to be immortalized with Tom Hardy on the set of The Dark Knight Rises (pictured above), thus confirming the perfect shape of the actor, as well as the new look of his hair, almost totally shaved, and is logical to think, ideal for wearing the menacing form of Bane.
