Things to know AMATEURS ONLY: The contest is open to amateur photographers only.
SUBMITTING: Photos must be submitted online at www.Tennesseantravel.com
RESTRICTIONS: Manipulation of images should be limited to conventional darkroom techniques or basic sharpening and cropping. Images should contain only the subject matter as originally seen through the viewfinder. Double exposures, digitally stitched photos and images containing any manipulated or added content will not be accepted.
LIMITS: Entrants can submit up to three photos a week. We will post photos from each week online for you to view and we will also select the best submissions from each week; winners will be chosen from these photos at the end of the contest.
DEADLINE: Submission deadline is Aug. 14. Photos must have been taken between Aug. 16, 2010, and Aug. 14, 2011. You can read the complete list of rules at www.tennessean.com/travel
HINT: Nothing ruins a good photo faster than a time stamp from the camera, so please turn it off or crop it out of the photo.
INFO: When you submit your photo you must provide your name, address and phone number as well as a brief description of each photo. Recommended photo size is at least 170 DPI (dots per inch) at 6 by 8 inches in JPEG format.
RIGHTS: By entering, you grant The Tennessean the right to publish, distribute, archive and otherwise use the photograph and information in whole or in part, in print, electronic or any other media and for promotional purposes related to The Tennessean. And you represent that you have the right to authorize use of the information you are submitting.
Summers here, and so is vacation season, and that means lots of picture-taking: stunning scenery, exotic adventures or just simple family fun.
Wed love for you to share. The Tennessean is kicking off its annual Vacation Photo Contest, with the first prize a three-night cruise for two to any of the destinations offered from Just Cruisin Plus. A panel of Tennessean judges will determine the winner, as well as four runners-up. ( Submit your travel photos to enter our contest .)
The second-place winner will receive a three-night condo stay in Gulf Shores, Ala., as well as passes for four and a $25 gift card to Waterville, and a $20 gift card toward dinner at Ribs & Reds. The third-place winner will head to Madeira Bay Resort Marina in Madeira Beach, Fla., for a three-night stay for a family of four.

WHAT: All day trip on the Ocoee River
WHEN: Saturday, August 27 at 10am
WHERE: Ocoee Outdoors is the Official Outfitter for The River Pirates of USMCFBC and the top rated outfitter on the Ocoee since 1977. This will be our 7th trip with Ocoee Outdoors.
Ocoee Outdoors is located on Hiway 64 east of Cleveland, TN and about 40 minutes from Exit 5 on I-75 (northeast Chattanooga). (Map and detailed directions to follow) I’ll be staying at the Hampton Inn at Exit 5.
COST: $99 per person for the Full Day, Whole River Float. Price includes transportation from Ocoee Outdoors to and from the river, equipment rental, and lunch.
Hotels closer to Ocoee Outdoors are available and tent camping is possible as well. My personal itinerary will be: traveling to Chattanooga on Friday, spending the night, eating breakfast at Cracker Barrel on Saturday morning, rafting on Saturday, spending the night on Saturday, and traveling back to Memphis on Sunday.
Exit 5, where the Hampton is, has a number of other hotels and is across the road from a mall with tons of restaurants.
