Shotgun Party is set to take the stage at the Rear Window Listening Room in Ganado at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Shotgun Party has been dazzling audiences since 2006 when they became an ensemble of streetwise and gifted musicians and singers.

The original Shotgun Party trio met in a little Texas dive bar in 2006. They got their start performing weekly at Austin's Continental Club.

Sparks flew and now Shotgun Party, the Austin-based trio, really knows how to fire up a crowd.

Their original songs are beautiful and timeless drawing influences from early blues, country, bluegrass and depression era swing. Katy Rose Cox's fearless fiddling is simply virtuosic.

Jenny Parrott's gorgeous vocals and addictive songs will bring you to your knees. ...and introducing Shotgun Party's newest member, Andrew Austin-Petersen, formerly of the Shake 'Em Ups, on show stopping upright bass. With tight harmonies and lively stage antics, Shotgun Party will leave you with a smile ear to ear.

"Unheralded opening trio Shotgun Party blew the house away with a set of Texas swing that had one foot among the tumbleweeds and the other in outer space. Singer Jenny Parrot has an arresting, brassy voice with a permanent, fluttering vibrato, and a stage presence that was just art-school enough to let you know somebody up there's a-thinkin.' Kind of like a two-step Bjork, without the annoyance factor. Fiddler Kay Rose Cox gets virtuoso honors for the night; her solos were hair-raising, heroic statements. Shotgun Party will be back, and when they are, go," according to the Club Helsinki Show Review at Metroland Online.

Singles of the Week: 27th June 2011

The entire track feels as if blended out into a fluttering wash of ringing guitar, murmured vocals and sharp, snappy drums, the latter of which slices through the haze to provide some welcome shape to the floating ambience overhead.

phonophobia and ear flutters - The Hyperacusis Network Message Board

Hello Marie,
Thanks for responding. How is your Hyperacusis treatment coming along? I'm not exactly sure how my fluttering came along but I know stress and anxiety does not help. I was on effexor XR for 5 years and out of no where started to develop a persistant headache. Life was great before then. Everything was totally normal. I thought there was something wrong like a tumor or cancer so I went to get a cat scan done and it came back clean. I did not associate the headaches to my medication since I had been on the medication for so long. Eventually I developed TMJ and had to get off the medication. I felt mentally great and thought I was strong enough to combat the TMJ off the medication. The TMJ was so rough and continued to get worse until I started to wear a good mouth gaurd. Eventually the TMJ went away but I started to develop a fluttering in my ear. I don't know when or how but I think it started as my TMJ was beginning to fade. The ear problem is now my source of anxiety and pain. My own voice kills my ear. It burns. If I touch the side of my face or come anywhere close to the side of my ear it hurts. I started to get back on medication and I tried Paxil for 3 weeks but the persistant headaches are too much for me to bear. It's like as if I had a railroad spike pushed directly between my eyes. Yesterday I started another medication called Lexipro and I'm hopeful that it will not cause headaches. Again, more stress!!! If this does not work then I will resort to a non-SSRI anti-depressant called Remeron. I am very and I repeat very cautions about my intake of Adivan and Benzodiazepine. I had the craziest experience after I had my first panic attack 2 months ago. I had fought my anxiety from my TMJ and sensitive ear situation for too long and developed a panic attack. It was at that very moment I decided it was time to get back on medication. So the very next morning I went to see a general practitioner before I saw my psychiatrist and they prescribed my xanax on an an as needed basis. I took 1 xanax and all my issues completely disappeared. My ear fluttering and sensitivity to noise was gone, my recovering TMJ soarness was gone, I was my old self and couldn't believe it. I was happy but depressed at the same time because I knew that Xanax is not a long term medication. Within 4 hours of taking the medication everything came right back as fast someone turning on a light switch. So here I am battling my fears of noise including my own voice.
