Medved Autoplex to Participate in Wal-Mart Bone Collector Hunting Event

On August 26th through the 28th Medved will be at the Wal-Mart Supercenter in Castle Rock and from September 9th through the 11th at the Wal-Mart in Parker to participate in the Wal-Mart Bone Collector Hunting Experience. This event will transform the parking lot into a hunting and fishing environment. There will be hunting, fishing and camping gear plus events for the entire family.
Medved will be showcasing several great Ram trucks at the event and will have these trucks available for test drives. Some of the events that will be featured are calling contests for duck, deer and goose. Sales of hunting and fishing equipment, hunter safety sign-up, an inflatable shooting range and a product display area. Douglas County is very fond of hunting, fishing and outdoor activities and this is a great event for the communities of Parker and Castle Rock.

Dodge City votes to continue flights to Denver | Wichita Eagle
- Dodge City officials have chosen to ask the federal government to continue subsidizing flights from Dodge City to Denver.
The Dodge City Commission voted 3-2 Thursday to ask the U.S. Department of Transportation to approve federal funding from the Essential Air Service program for the flights, according to The Dodge City Daily Globe ( http://bit.ly/o9hbBN).
The commission's request will go to the U.S. Department of Transportation, which will make the final decision.
Southwest Kansas could lose commercial air service if the federal government cuts funding for the Essential Air Service program, which supports commercial flights in small, rural communities.
As a possible solution, Garden City officials have asked Dodge City to support a bid from American Eagle, which has offered to provide flights from Garden City to Dallas. But American Eagle's bid would cost about $900,000 more than bids from other airlines, prompting Garden City officials to seek financial assistance from Dodge City.
Garden City suggested that Dodge City forgo about $1 million in federal funding so the money could be used instead to help establish a regional airport in Garden City, about a 45-minute drive away. In that case, Dodge City Regional Airport would have remained open but discontinued commercial fights.
But Dodge City Manager Ken Strobel gave the commission two different options to consider. He said they could continue the city's current arrangement with Great Lakes, in which the airline provides four daily round-trip flights to Denver or ask Great Lakes to provide two daily flights from Dodge to Denver and ask American Eagle to offer two flights from Garden City to Dallas.
If the commission had chosen the second option, the city would have applied to participate in the federal Alternative Air Service Pilot Program, which would have entailed giving up its right to subsidized air service. Part of the subsidy would have been used to support American Eagle's service.
Strobel encouraged the city to look at the alternative program.
"I think it serves the people of Dodge City better. I think it provides an opportunity for us that we certainly haven't had up to this point," he said.
