Hangar 17 is home to World Trade Center steel
It's pretty amazing to see what was saved from the World Trade Center site.
The World Trade Center steel program, a program operated by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, is selecting portions of the steel recovered from the World Trade Center and donating it to cities, towns, firehouses and museums around the U.S. and the world who request it for use in 911 memorial sites in time for the 10 year anniversary of the 2001 attacks.
Hangar 17 at Kennedy Airport houses the collection of steel, a fire truck, a rail car and other artifacts.

I recently attended a youth gathering as a chaperone for flag day. A history teacher and I were discussing poor grade results and the various reasons for them. She was confident her class (these teens ) were well educated. As a challenge I started asking random kids what year 9/11 happened. Only 1 in ten could tell me. "That's on par with the national average" the teacher pointed out to me as if she had done her job *well enough*.
We need to hear more about 9/11 not less.
Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.
